Pilates group matwork classes are our most popular. Each class has no more that 12 people to ensure your safety, and so that we can give each individual the right guidance and support. Classes range from beginner to advanced, all equipment is provided. The beauty of Pilates matwork is that you can take away your learning’s and practice at home to help build on both your Pilates knowledge and physical well-being.

Pilates Machine Sessions

Pilates machine sessions are for 1 to 2 people, each person benefiting from their own personalised programme. These sessions take place in our unique equipment studio where you will use the Pilates Reformer, Cadillac and Chair. The studio equipment creates spring loaded resistance to the Pilates repertoire, producing more specific movement patterns in the body, challenging any weaknesses and therefore over time, improving posture, mobility and tone. The Pilates machines are amazing, as well as fun, and takes the client to a different dimension of movement and understanding.

Yoga at ThePilatesWorkshop

Yoga is a mind and body practice with historical origins in ancient Indian philosophy.
Like other meditative movement practices used for health purposes, various styles of yoga typically combine physical postures, breathing techniques, and meditation or relaxation.

 

Iyengar yoga

You do not need be at the peak of physical fitness to practise Iyengar yoga. We use a range of props, such as foam blocks, bricks, and belts, which enable everyone to improve their asana practice and benefit from it.

What to expect from Iyengar yoga class?

• Emphasise on correct body alignment which allows the body to work in an anatomically precise way so that the you can progress safely
• Correct sequencing which gradually helps you to develop strength, flexibility, stamina, concentration and relaxation
• Accurate timing, longer than in some other styles, allowing tense muscles to lengthen and relax

By practising yoga asanas you will:

• Improve your body posture and bring about a sense of balance and poise

Barre workout with Nicky

This increasingly popular exercise regime incorporates the precision of Pilates with the positions, moves and technique of ballet. Add to this the alignment of yoga and the strength from sports conditioning and you will have all of the aspects of a typical barre session.

BarreConcept is a unique ballet barre workout, set to high-energy music, which dramatically transforms the entire body. The focus is on toning the thighs, lifting the butt, sculpting the arms and flattening the abs, whilst simultaneously burning fat. Each session aims to build stamina and endurance increase flexibility and narrow the waistline.

Babalates with Sacha

This class is aimed at new mummies and their babies from 6 weeks – crawling. The class will help to re-strengthen those muscles so importantly used during your pregnancy and subsequent labour and enable you to reconnect with your body and mind in a calm and relaxing environment. Exercises will focus on drawing together your stomach muscles and strengthening the pelvic floor, as well as toning other parts of your body and gentle stretching. The classes will also focus on posture in relation to feeding, carrying , pushchair use; all the everyday things that your body has to adapt to now baby is here!

The classes are limited to 12 to enable individual attention so booking in advance is essential. Parking is available on site and on the surrounding roads and we ask, where possible, that pushchairs can be left at home or in the car, although there is space for some pushchairs in the lobby area. There is also lift access to the studio for those who should be avoiding carrying up and downstairs. Clothing for you and baby should be comfortable and a blanket for baby and muslins are a good idea to mop up any spills! The class is very relaxed so please feel comfortable to feed your baby when required and to join in what you can.

Adult Ballet classes

Ballet classes are a fantastic revival for the whole body. Ballet will help to improve your muscle tone, strength and overall flexibility. Ballet Revival classes are designed to teach you all aspects of ballet practice including, basic ballet exercises, technique and stretches in a friendly and fun atmosphere. No need to have danced before, just the enthusiasm to do something new!

Please wear whatever you feel most comfortable and can easily move in. Most of my regular dancers wear leggings and loose fitting t-shirts. Ballet shoes are not required, just a pair of socks. Tutus and leg warmers are optional…!

Ballet Body Conditioning

Ballet Body Conditioning classes are designed for everybody and no previous ballet experience is required. They are great all-round conditioning classes to improve core stability, posture, weight placement and alignment used in ballet in a floor-based class. Ballet Body Conditioning is a complete body workout!

DDMIX Dance Fitness Classes

DDMIX stands for ‘Diverse Dance Mix’ and is a new and exciting dance fitness class created by ex-Ballerina and “Strictly Come Dancing” judge Darcey Bussell CBE and top choreographer Nathan Clarke. The classes include routines from different dance genres and eras. Getting fit and exercising has never been more enjoyable!
